Well, I know it's been awhile since I posted anything... where to begin.

Well, airsoft has been blast. (punn intended) Our team is pwning, and we're developing an awesome rep with the people we play with. You can't beat that. The G36c is performing very well. My trigger control needs work, but it's getting better.

I finally got around to ordering a new computer and putting it together. For performance and cost reasons, I went AMD. Well here are the stats:

- Processor: AMD64 X2 5600+ (dual core 2.8GHz)
- Memory: 2GB of Corsair XMS DDR2-800
- Motherboard: Gigabyte M555-SLI (Rev 2) motherboard
- SATA Maxtor 320GB 3GB/s drive
- PNY Nvidia GForce 8800GTS 320MB card (SLI ready)
- Aerocool ATX mid sized case

For people that know me, you know I haven't had the best of luck ordering parts online. I get defective video cards... processors... etc. Well, guess what? Nothing wrong here. Took me about 45 minutes to put everything together and the system flies. WoW runs at 1280x1024 and a solid 60 FPS. Haven't seen it drop yet. Supreme Commander also runs at the same resolution with 4xAA. The game looks breath taking. Yes, I finally finished it now that my system would actually run it. Descided to run XP Pro on it for the time being, but I imagine I'll eventually move over to Vista once the driver issues have been worked out.

Not really much else going on ATM. Will try and post more often. :)

Airsoft

Well been doing Airsoft with friends. Our team is shaping together. Went over guidelines and other team policies. Was given my starting rank on the team. I'm currently second in command with a grade of Sergeant Major. Going to upload some pics in a bit.

I purchased a Wells M4 Spring action rifle (very powerful, low rate of fire, pretty accurate at medium and long distance shooting), and a UHC 1911A Spring Action (pretty powerful, great short to medium range accuracy). Love shooting the M4, did some capture the flag and a few other games with it. The pistol is a lot of fun too. Once we get some more stuff ironed out, I'm hoping with can start going to some competitions in the area. Will definitely get some pics from those.

Got a chance to play the World of Warcraft expansion. A friend of mine that got in let me use his account. All I have to say is .... Damn. I cannot wait for this to come out. Some of the views in Outland are breath taking... and yes... you can fall off the planet. :)

Violence in Video Games

Anyone who's read Slashdot or just about any other online publication has probably seen an article or heard about Jack Thompson. Jack Thompson is a lawyer / pain in the ass for all video gamers out there. Let me start by saying, I absolutely hate politics, and this waste of skin is a prime example.

I won't rehash his entire Wikipedia entry, but that does look pretty comprehensive. His latest brilliant statement, "Nobody shoots anybody in the face unless you're a hit man or a video gamer." Obviously Mr. Thompson lives in a bubble. I did some searches online for corresponding news articles, but it looks like someone beat me to it. What I find hilarious is the number of people who have emailed him really eloquent messages, only to get one or two sentence flames from him.

Anyhow, any piece of legislation on banning certain video games, enhancing global warming, stopping the space program, and drying up the oceans can probably be traced to him somewhere.

Unfortunately one teen has already been arrested for threatening to kill and torture Jack. Poor Jack...

I of course do NOT advocate writing to or threatening him in any way shape or form. Take it to the politicians. In time it'll work itself out. I'll be checking this site weekly.

Other than that, haven't really been up to too much. Went to my parents house on Sunday for a birthday party. Was alot of fun. Been playing around with a Playstation emulator on my PC and playing through all my favorite games. On the PS2, I'm currently into Hitman 2... No that has no relevance to the above statements about Jack. Sicko for thinking that. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get some piano wire.

Okay, several people have asked me why I didn't vote for Gore... This is a prime example.

Sorry Tim, but I couldn't resist.
Work and Stuff

Well, work has been taking up a lot of my spare time. Currently, I get home around 7p, eat some food, sit on the couch to watch some Law and Order, and then pass out. Hopefully the hours will start to get a little easier soon.

Check out my new Star Trek gallery inside of the gallery on my website. A lot of cool stuff I thought would be neat to share.

Not much else going on. Just trying to survive as usual.

Gas

Okay, so on my way into the office, I just put about 13 some odd gallons into my tank... A few cents over $30 later my tank still wasn't full. I stopped the pump just because I was in sticker shock. Ironically, probably a dollar or so more and it would have been full, but then I might have suffered a small heart attack, died at the pump, and where would the gas station's image be?

IMO, OPEC is our problem here. Over $70 per barrel for crude? Come on... The Earth's supplies can't be running THAT low? Why is congress focusing it's attention on the Oil companies? Yes, there are things IMO that they could do to ease the burden on their customer base, but why not go right to the source? Oops, that might piss the muslim countries off... We wouldn't want to do that, now would we?

Thoughts?

Funny

So, I like to dabble in politics, and some nights things like this just fall in my lap and then I think... "Yes... Yes I voted for him, but only because I feared the outcome of voting for the other guy." How sad a country we live in.

Stuff

Well the cut over of my network operations center is definitely under way. HP 4000M is mounted in the first rack along with the APC battery backups. I converted 3 out of the 20 or so servers into 4U rack mounts and mounted those in. Everything went pretty well.

Going to spend sometime this weekend just relaxing. Been a long week as it is. I've been eying my PS2. It's been looking a little on the neglected side. Illidan on World of Warcraft has been having some serious issues lately. 4-5 second instacast time rules! Fortunately Shattered Hand is working fairly well. 67ms ping time and it's an east coast server to boot!

Got the latest Pete's OpenGL2 driver for ePSXe on my PC. All of my old PSX games look so nice on my PC. Final Fantasy 7 and Silent Hill are the two games I'm playing with right now. I can play them right off the CDs, but the load times are way better if I rip the CDs to ISOs on my HD.
